Ways to Avoid Dehydration

Dehydration is dangerous in children and older people. It happens when the body loses more fluids than it takes in. The best way to avoid dehydration is to increase your water intake especially during hot weather conditions. Below we have highlighted some fruits and food that will keep you hydrated.

Salads Rich in Watermelons

As the name suggests, watermelon has lots of water built in it. The fruit also has low calories. It can be a perfect option to keep you hydrated if you do not like taking water. You can take watermelons singly or together with other fruits in a salad. Watermelon works very well with gazpacho and fruit salad or arugula and mint salad.

Iceberg Lettuce

Iceberg lettuce has the highest level of water compared to the others. The lettuce consists of about 95 percent water content. It is therefore recommended to takes lots of iceberg lettuce. You can have it either in salads or in a burger.

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers contain about 92 percent of water. They are also a great source of fiber. Bell peppers are low in carbs and calories making them a great ingredient in salsas or salads. You can add bell peppers in meals but they lose their hydrating property when cooked.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes boast water content by approximately 95 percent. Additionally, they contain potassium making it a great option to include in meals. You can take them in fresh salsa, pasta sauce, gazpacho, stew, or solely by slicing and sprinkling some pepper and salt.

Strawberries

Strawberry fruits contain 91 percent of water content. They are also rich in vitamin C making them a great option to add in your melted chocolate. You can also serve them as strawberry and basil salad.
