The Conundrums of Oily Skin

I believe that it’s a lot more difficult to find viable products and effective routines for oily skin than it is for dry skin. I actually think that oily skin is more prone to acne.

However in my quest for finding my skin glow up, I feel that I finally came across the perfect night routine for my oily skin:

  1. Wash your face with a foaming cleanser.

This apparently helps break apart and dissolve oil on the skin surface. I prefer Rooibos African Extracts products, I found that they are less harsh.

      2. Exfoliate

You can use the exfoliating sponges or electronic brushes. I prefer the sponge.  But I’m also a big fan of natural products and tend to use mielie meal soaked in a bit of water as well.

     3. Steam your face.

Boil some water and put it in a bowl. Place your face inches away from the bowl so you can feel the steam hitting your face. Then cover your head with a towel, this only needs to be for about 10min, so you can sweat. This opens up and cleanses clogged pores which often lead to break outs.

  1. The face mask.

My favorite bit. The face mask has worked wonders for me especially because I have a very sensitive skin that reacts to almost anything.

At this stage I Crack an egg, put 1 table spoon of honey and 2 tea spoons of turmeric. Then 1 teaspoon of lemon. Mix and apply. Leave it on for about 20 to 30 Min, then rinse it off with luke warm to cold water.

I love it because it is a cocktail of natural products thus very little chance of you reacting negatively to it.

 5.

Now it’s just the usual. I like to start with the bionike cleansing milk because of its anti-ageing properties, it also takes off any excess mask that may be left over. Besides, rumor has it, you should start with anti-ageing products in your 20s. I then tone and moisturize. I occasionally use the environs eye cream under my eyes to reduce the sight of bags.

And that’s it! You wake up with your skin feeling so soft in the morning. You probably need a good hour to do this, maybe 3 times a week.

And yes! My skin has improved so much, it’s worth it!
