Your skin is a living organ that changes over time and every age comes with its own set of concerns. The trick to embracing your aging skin is to follow certain skin care rules that will keep your complexion looking and feeling its best. Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Most cases of skin cancer are found in people with mature skin, but little attention has been given to ways to reduce skin cancer risk among people in this age group. Exposure to the UV rays of the sun can damage your skin leading to premature ageing in the form of hyperpigmentation, sunspots, wrinkles or freckles. To prevent this, always use a sunscreen above 30 SPF before you step out. Switch to a more moisturizing sunscreen cream, and avoid alcohol-containing sprays and gels that can dry out your skin.  Also, look for sunscreens that contain antioxidants to protect the collagen in your skin.

Add Retinol into Your Routine

Fine lines, wrinkles and texture are extremely common in mature skin. In order to improve the appearance of these nuisances, it is key to use products that are working to resurface the skin. Retinol is one of the ingredients that can resurface the skin. First, it prevent wrinkles due to its minimizing effect. Secondly, it smoothens out existing fine lines and wrinkles. Thirdly, it brightens dull skin by exfoliating at a cellular level, which results in brighter and smoother new skin.

Illuminate Your Skin with Serum

As your skin matures, the overall radiance of your skin can decrease. Serums on the other hand, can help in making the skin look more radiant because they contain hydrating and brightening ingredients.  Serums make the skin feel softer and appears refreshed.

Eat Foods Rich in Vitamins C and E

Vitamins C and E are rich in antioxidants that help prevent free radicals from damaging skin cells. They improve the elasticity and suppleness of your skin. Foods such as nuts, oranges, seeds, eggs, vegetable oils, green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, chilis, kiwis and lemons are rich in these vitamins.
