Mr & Miss USIU 2017

One of the most anticipated fashion events marked in the campus calendar came to pass – and this year’s beauty pageant event was bolder and better. On Thursday, 23rd at the CK Square, Two Rivers Mall – the 2017’s Mr. &. Miss USIU-A was held; which saw 16 finalists battle it out to win the title of Mr. / Miss USIU-A.

As with any other beauty pageant with an agenda, Mr. & Miss USIU-A is one that merges beauty with a purpose by aiming to make a difference in the society. Through title holders, they can use their influence to make a positive impact. In addition, the proceeds from the event go to supporting a different charity program each year. This year being the Altawoon education center in Korogocho.

Quoting Stacey Samoe, Chairperson of the Mr. &. Miss USIU-A committee said, “I believe my committee and I with the support of the student affairs council delivered a good event.”

They indeed pulled off a fantastic event that had lots of fun and entertaining activities. Such activities included a series of local Fashion Designers showcase – that consisted of four who each had separate collections to showcase. Namely El Afrique Fashion House, Shariffah Ingosi, Vaazi, and Shenu.

Each collection was modelled by the event’s finalists. All the collections had a different theme, cut, drape-effect and overall execution that made the runway sparkle in creativity and excellence.

Live performances by Le Band – who performed their smash hit Number One featuring Suzziah, Elvis Who – a phenomenal musician breaking into the East African scene with a bang, USIU dance Club and The Affiliates 254
