Insecurity is a feeling of inadequacy and body insecurity is a big issue in this modern era. Poor body image can lead to very serious health problems like disordered eating and anxiety. Everybody deals with insecurities and about 82 percent of women and 40 percent of men are dissatisfied with their body. Below, we are sharing some tips to overcome body insecurities.
Stop and Identify Negative Thoughts

It is important to identify when you are having negative thoughts towards your body. This identification will help you know what triggers these kind of thoughts and how you can change them in the future. For example, a stream of thought may flow onto the screen of your mind that says, “You have a big belly.” This way of thinking may make you feel insecure about your body.
Write Down What you Like about Your Body

Spend some time writing down all the things that are great about your body. For example, you can have a beautiful face, a charming smile, a great voice, et cetera. Writing these great things about your body is powerful because they will make you feel good about your body whenever the feelings of insecurity arises.
Wear Clothes That Flatter You Well

There is always the pressure of wearing clothes that are fashionable now even if they do not flatter you well. Clothes are meant to flatter your body. Always wear the clothes that truly enhance the look of your body, as they will diminish the insecurities you may be feeling about your body. Furthermore, clothes that flatter your body will highlight the parts of your body that makes you feel great about yourself.
Nurture and Treat Your Body with Respect

The way you treat your body with respect the less you will stop feeling insecure about it. Start by eating nutritious food, staying active, and getting plenty of rest. These behaviors will enhance your body in a better way and you will feel less insecure about your body.
Surround Yourself with Positive People

Surrounding yourself with people who have an optimistic outlook means they will empower you and you will have less insecurities of your body. Positive people not only change your perspective, but also have the power to improve your well-being and overall quality in life. Just as you benefit when you surround yourself with people who make you happy, you suffer when those in your social circles are negative. They will always want to highlight the insecurities about your body.
