How to Easily Get Rid of Split Ends

Split ends can happen to any hair type and you can typically identify them by a distressed and tangled look at the longest point. Indeed, various physical and chemical factors including brushing, combing, heat, bleaching and dying can cause progressive damage to the cuticle that normally protects the hair. Consequently, the underlying fibers at the tip of the hair will separate. Split ends happen at the ends because that is the part that contains the oldest hair. As such, below, we have highlighted some of the ways you can use to remove split ends before they start.
Do Not Brush Wet Hair

Wet hair is vulnerable to damage. Water swells and stretches the hair’s shaft and the shingle-like outer layer lifts; therefore, brushing can cause it to break. However, if you want to comb through your hair after you shower, towel-dry it and then apply some leave-in conditioner into the hair before combing it. Use a wide-toothed comb or a wet brush as they protect wet hair.
Be Gentle On Your Strands

Additionally, be tender on your strands and minimize pulling them when styling. Always begin from the ends and work your way up the hair in small sections. Moreover, minimize using rubber bands which can weaken and break your hair. As an alternative, use accessories made of satin/silk fabric. If you can, steer off tight braids or ponytails.
Minimize Heat on Your Hair

For sure, heat can destroy your strands if you are not taking the right precautions. Therefore, if you want to use a styling iron on your hair, ensure that it is fully dry; since, any water trapped within strands can heat up and expand which can result in extra damage. Also, apply thermal-protection hair products before heating the hair. These products withstand high temperatures and create a hair shield that reduces hair damage.
Sleep on Silk Fabric

Silk fabric reduces hair friction which makes it less lustrous and susceptible to damage. Indeed, silk pillowcases or silk hair caps are the best if you want to keep your hair looking healthy, shiny, and damage-free for longer.
Deep Condition Often

Hair conditioning supplies the hair with essential and nutrients and hydration. Therefore, when you have split ends, your hair needs more hydration than ever. The conditioners also make it easier to detangle hair thus making it damage-free and softer.
