How to Apply Your Makeup Base

Makeup base creates miracles on skin and helps it look smoother and healthier. Makeup base is liquid products that is applied to the skin before starting to apply make-up. Moreover, it makes the makeup last longer and make the skin look dewy or matte. Although the bases of make-up are basically the same, they are diversified according to the skin type. Some makeup bases have a mattifying effect, while others brighten the skin by giving you a dewy appearance.  If you have an oily skin, you will need mattifying makeup base because it will give you a matte finish and prevent shine. If you have dry skin, you need a makeup base that will hydrate your skin before applying makeup. Below we have given you a guide for achieving the flawless base for your makeup look that is great on every face, every day.

Cleanse the Skin

First, cleanse your face to ensure that it is free of pollutants. Preparing your skin for makeup base ensures that it goes on evenly and stays put. The better your skin looks to begin with, the better the makeup will look.  Do not forget, your face is an empty canvas for the products you are going to use. Make sure you do not dry out your face by washing too much. Also, pop those blackheads and scrub well to ensure there is no dead skin layer.

Hydrate the Skin

Hydrating smoothens the skin’s surface for a more even foundation or concealer or primer application and can even help makeup to stay on longer. Second, hydrating skin underneath makeup will help skin to look less dull.

Apply Primer

Primer is an important makeup base that is extremely underrated. Primers help to create the perfect base by creating a barrier between your skin and foundation. It smoothens out fine lines, wrinkles, open pores, dry patches, uneven skin tone and spots. It also controls shine, stops foundation from streaking and makes your make-up last all day.

Buff on Foundation

Buff on some foundation to the skin. Foundation can cover imperfections, provide a more even skin tone, and give the desired finish either matte or dewy. It helps other products blush, concealer, and highlighters go on much more smoothly. It can give the appearance of a light, golden tan without the damage of the real thing.

Apply Concealer

Foundation may have worked to cover up blemishes, but a bit of concealer can help disguise any remaining imperfections you like covered. You can apply a concealer in a colour that is one to two shades lighter than your skin tone in upside-down triangles under your eyes to brighten the area and create the illusion of a more awake visage.

Set with Powder

This is the last step to achieving that perfect makeup base. Prepare your face with a translucent setting powder as it locks in foundation and soaks up any makeup product or excess oil that your skin may produce. Apply a thin layer of setting powder all over your face with a large fluffy makeup brush.
