Head to Toe Exfoliation Guideline

Exfoliation is the process of casting off dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. Indeed, everyone needs to exfoliate their skin regularly for a healthy and youthful-looking complexion. There are two types of exfoliation processes including mechanical and chemical activities. While mechanical processes involve rubbing your skin with a scrub or an exfoliation tool, chemical procedures rely on salicylic acid, glycolic acid or enzymes to chemically breakdown the dead skin cells. Exfoliation also allows the simple application of body products. As such, below, we have explained the procedures one can utilize to exfoliate the whole body from head to toe like a pro.

Pick the Right Product

Before you proceed with exfoliating the face, ensure that you have the right product that suits your skin type. You can either decide to use a mechanical exfoliant which is a face scrub or a chemical exfoliant. A face scrub will lift off dirt, dead skin and oil from the skin surface while the chemical exfoliant effectively exfoliates deep beneath the skin, thus making the skin look younger. Moreover, it reduces the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles over time.

Apply to Dry Skin

If you are using a scrub, use dry fingers to smear it over your clean and dry face while avoiding the eye region. On the contrary, if you are using a facial serum, apply four drops to your clean and dry face.

Massage with Wet Fingers

If you are using a scrub, use wet fingers to massage the scrub all over your face. On the other hand, if you are using a chemical exfoliant simply massage the serum on the face.

Rinse

Use warm water to rinse off the scrub completely. For the chemical exfoliant, just leave it as it is.

Finish with a Moisturizer

Slather your facial moisturizer of choice to leave your face hydrated.

The Body

Begin with Dry Skin

Wear a pair of exfoliating gloves and gently rub your skin in circular motions to commence the dead skin cell shedding process.

Get in the Shower

Consequently, hop in the shower, let the water run all over your body before proceeding with mechanical exfoliation.

Use an Exfoliating Cleanser

For the body use an exfoliating body wash and rub in circular motions.
